Representing Bicyclists' Interests
Our advocacy role includes working with Lebanon County's Planning Department/LEBCO Metropolitan Planning Organization, PennDOT and our many municipalities in Lebanon County.
Harry Fenton represents the Community of Lebanon Association and LVBC as a non voting member of the Technical Planning Committee of LEBCO MPO.
Ed Krebs is serving on the Streetscapes Project committee for Palmyra. This project is directed by the Lebanon County Planning Department.
Mike Sheehan represented LVBC/bicyclists at the first meeting of the study group for the PA Scenic Byway project which is directed by the Lebanon County Planning Department. This included a bus tour of the route.
North Cornwall Township has on several occasions requested that their contracted planners and engineers seek LVBC's input.
LVBC members have met with planner Harry Roth and municipal officials of South Londonderry Township, North Londonderry Township and Palmyra Borough to provide input for their joint comprehensive plan.
Much has happened in the Campbelltown area because of the construction of a "connector" route from SR322 to Lingle Avenue. Bicycling accommodations have been negatively impacted. Members met with PennDOT and the township manager in November. Recommendations were made to rectify some of the problems. We will continue to pursue these issues in 2010.
As a result of our efforts to communicate the needs of bicyclists so that they are better accommodated and provided safer facilities, information and recommendations have been made. Two documents are being shared to enable you to offer additional suggestions and/or criticisms. It is very challenging to represent bicyclists with a wide range of experiences and preferences for cycling. Your input is critical.
